I've been listening to people in the Church say that it's ok to "dislike" someone in the Body as long as we "love" them. After reading in God's word and inspecting myself I believe this is a contradictory statement and impossible to carry out while remaining in Christ. If we are discussing the Family of Believers, how on earth can we truly dislike someone, yet love them? In my opinion we cannot. Those people I allow myself to dislike, I mistreat. It's impossible to love someone when you dislike them, by the definitions below you are in complete opposition with those you dislike. If we're in opposition how can we be of one mind? We try to place the responsibly on them rather than accept responsibility ourselves and learn how to love those we find disagreement with. There are people I'd rather not spend a lot of time with; however, I'm commanded to love even them, yes, even them. We use the term "dislike" to validate our sinful behavior. I have work to do and ask Jehovah to truly help me love those whom I struggle to love. Hostility comes from anger and hate. Check out the following definitions. Very eye-opening.
Dislike: feel distaste for or hostility toward.
Hate: feel intense or passionate dislike for (someone).
Hostility: hostile behavior; unfriendliness or opposition.
Acts of warfare. (WOW!)
