So much is on my heart and my mind. I am overwhelmed with God's abundant favor and blessing. Our God is so amazing that He even knows how each of us learns and what will change our hearts. As many of you know I am very strong-willed and determined. I like to be in control of my surroundings and circumstances. Biblically, I am to be in submission to my husband. This has been a difficult thing for me to actually practice. I am very ashamed to admit this. But I feel I must share it because God is amazing. Every single move we have made as a familyI have been in control of it, form the paperwork, to the search, to the packing, loading, hauling, unloading, unpacking, signing, etc. In fact, every move we have made I have had to give my husband directions on how to get there once he arrived back in country. He never saw any of our homes during the selection process. God turned the tables on us this time. While I've been handling everything as usual because, once again, husband is out of state/country, my husband has been the one to physically go see the property we are buying and be present for the inspections and appraisals. The kids and I have not seen the property in person at all yet! Husband has been there several times. This is huge for me. I have had to have total faith and trust in my husband's approval and decision on this property. The kids and I are really excited and can't wait to see our new home. My husband has told us great things about it. Now he is giving me directions on how to get home. Praise You Lord for Your teachings.
Like Moses before him, Joshua received his orders from the Lord, and he obeyed them, by faith. "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17) It has been well said that faith is not believing in spite of evidence but obeying in spite of consequence. When you read Hebrews 11 (The Faith Chapter), you discover that the people mentioned there all "did something" because they believed God. Their faith wasn't a passive feeling; it was an active force. Because Abraham believed God, he left Ur and headed to Canaan. Because Moses believed God, he defied the gods of Egypt and led the Jews to freedom. Because Gideon believed God, he led a small band of Jews to defeat the huge Midianite army. Living faith always leads to action. "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." James 2:26.
When we released our home and our belongings into God's hands, His blessings flowed forth upon us, but we had to release these material things first.
There are three essentials required for moving forward by faith:
WORD OF FAITH, WALK OF FAITH, & WITNESS OF FAITH.
The people God uses and blesses know how to discipline their bodies so that they can give themselves to the Lord. If we are under the control of anything else other than God, whether it be alcohol, food, drugs, coffee, tobacco, sex, TV, unforgiveness, laziness, etc, then we are in submission to those things and not to God. We cannot serve two masters. Our bodies are to be treated as the temple of the Holy Spirit. Anything that has us under control is inhibiting us from being in total submission to God. This will inhibit our witness and thus could cause others to stumble. If I am addicted to anything other than Christ then I am hypocrite. I just need to deny myself and my flesh. Perhaps if you feel led, you might pray that God will help me overcome unforgiveness and food. I will begin to eat only to satisfy my hunger and nothing beyond that. I have a few people that I must forgive even though they've not asked for forgiveness (that's what makes it so hard). Is there anything that you need to give-up for the Lord? Would you like prayer in this area? If we're truly going to change the world then we must first change ourselves. Let's begin by being disciplined to be in His Word daily.
1 Corinthians 6:19 Don’t you know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.
When you behold the glory of God and believe the Word of God, it gives you faith to accept the will of God.
Idols are dead substitutes for the Living God. Whatever people delight in other than God, whatever they are devoted to and sacrifice for, whatever they can't bear to be without, is an idol and therefore under the condemnation of God.
"Anything you have that you cannot give away, you don't really own; it owns you." - Albert Schweitzer
Lord, you know my struggles. You know my battles. I lay them at the Cross and ask for your help to be fully devoted to you and not to man, things or any other idol. I want to be in full devotion and service to you. Reveal to me my strongholds and loosen the chains. In the power of the Blood, amen.
When I accepted the proposal of marriage by my Hero I wasn't entering a contract with man, rather a covenant with God. I've made many mistakes even as an adult. Marriage is extremely hard. There were times we both came close to wanting to quit. I have to remind myself that my commitment is to my God, not man. Man will let me down, God never will. I will fail man, God has already forgiven me. I must live my life with the intent and desire to please my Lord and my Hero must do the same. When this happens, our love and devotion for and to our Lord draws us to Him, causing us to meet in the middle of a powerful union sanctified by our King resulting in a fervent love for one another. Life itself is so dark and quite impossible without God being our Master. Marriage is even tougher. I will do everything in my power, no...in God's power, to strengthen this Union. I write this during a time when we're on a mountain and not in a valley. Keep godly counsellors near for wisdom and direction. Never fail to bathe your Union in holy prayer. And do everything to keep from releasing your covenant to the devil.
Often in the bible the term "wilderness" is symbolic of our distance from God, not a physical distance but a spiritual distance. In Habakkuk 3:5 judgments against Pharaoh and the Israelites are mentioned. The Israelites repeatedly disobeyed God during their "wilderness" march out of Egypt thus, the Lord carried out judgments on them. We all experience highs and lows, valleys and mountains. I'm sure we've also experienced the tantalizing temptations of the devil at our weakest moments. But the Lord reveals to us here and elsewhere in His word that just because we may be distant from God (by the way, we're the ones who stray from Him, not the other way around) that we are held accountable even then, of our actions and choices. It is in these wilderness times that we must work ever more diligently to be in His will and not our own. The best way to do that is by surrounding yourself with godly people who will hold you accountable, diving into His word, prayer, praise and even fasting. Also in the bible is evidence that our sin affects not only us but our families, our children and even generations. When we sin we create a gap in the protective wall that's around our family, including our church family. It is up to us to protect that wall, to protect the family, as well as ourselves.
It is all about who you know. People can get into some of the most prestigious places based on who they know. People get amazing jobs based on who they know. They get that perfect table ahead of others at the restaurant based on who they know. They get great deals on cars based on who they know. They get into positions of power base don who they know.
Did you know that to obtain the absolute most important thing in all creation is based on WHO you KNOW?!
The ONLY way you will secure a place at the King's table, a spot in the Royal Throne Room, a room in the Royal Mansion is to...
After observing our lamb, Mary, tenaciously trying to follow her mean mother around and nurse and feel loved regardless of how Abigail treats her I am reminded of our spiritual walk in this world. This world is so cruel and dark. It is up to us to relentlessly seek our Father and get fed the holy milk of life. We must go to Him. We must seek Him. Every time we fall or get knocked down or hurled to the mud, we must get back up and run to Him and nurse on the milk until we grow and mature enough to take in the bread of life. We must not give-up or quit just because it's difficult, or physically enduring. We must persevere and not quit. We must seek Him, daily, hour by hour, minute by minute. Let's be like tenacious Mary and go to Him constantly to be fed.
When one truly studies the mysteries of our universe there is only one genuine conclusion one can come to-truly our God is real and magnificent.
How else can one explain the perfect distance of the earth from the sun, the perfect terrestrial landscape, revolution and orbit, atmosphere, tilt and mass of our planet?
How else can one explain that the planets, stars and moons have steadied themselves within the solar system throughout time?
How else can one explain that no other planet is capable of life such as ours? No other planet contains the necessities of life as ours.
To believe this all came about by accident takes greater faith and ignorance, or a refusal to see the evidence placed before us.
We serve a mighty God, an amazing Creator, a King who is more than a Conquerer! All glory to God in the Highest!
